Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology

Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology, or EPAT, is our newest and fastest growing form of treatment.  EPAT is a form of shockwave therapy, which was originally used to breakdown kidney stones without surgery in a lithotripsy procedure. It has since been used in other forms of treatment like musculoskeletal injuries.

EPAT is a noninvasive treatment method cleared by the FDA that uses acoustic pressure waves to promote the healing process and increase blood circulation.

We interviewed two of our patients who have found relief after EPAT treatments in our office!

Q: What kind of pain or injury were you experiencing prior to your treatment and what other modes did you try?
A: I was experiencing pain in my upper back and shoulder.  I tried Aleve, massage therapy, and using the theragun.

Q: Could you tell us more about EPAT and your experience with it?
A: Shockwave gets deep into tissue to heal. It can be painful at times, but pain is good. It makes you feel good in two days – local feeling with accurate healing.

Q: How has your injury changed, improved, or otherwise?
A: It has improved.  I am able to sleep at night, and continue to compete at the highest level.

Q: Would you recommend this procedure to others?
A: Yes, it’s a reliable solution. It helps you heal without spending as much time resting, and no surgery! It allows older people to do athletic competition and other things we enjoy.

Q: Compared to other forms of treatment, do you prefer the EPAT treatment?

A: Yes, it’s the best.  I can still compete at the highest levels.
